Nut Sort
Unscrew whole runs of matching hex nuts and spin them onto the right bolt: 60 campaign levels, 12 metal colors and mystery nuts hiding their color.
What is Nut Sort?
Nut Sort is a color sorting puzzle where you unscrew hex nuts from threaded bolts and spin them onto other bolts until each one holds four nuts of the same color. One tap moves the whole visible run of a color, so a single move can shift three nuts at once. The 60-level campaign climbs from 3 colors on 5 bolts to 12 colors on 15 bolts, adds mystery nuts on odd levels from level 5, and rates each clear with up to 3 stars against an exact move target.

How to play Nut Sort
Goal: Get four nuts of one color onto every bolt, ideally within the level's move target for 3 stars.
- Tap a bolt to grab the run of same-colored nuts sitting on top of it.
- Tap a bolt that is empty or topped with the same color: as many nuts as fit, up to 4 per bolt, spin across.
- Watch the header: your moves sit next to the limit that keeps the stars you are still on course for.
- Out of options? Undo a step, or press Add Bolt for a spare empty rod at the price of one star.
- Fill every bolt with four matching nuts to clear the board, then head to the next level.

Tips & tricks
- On a mystery level, dig out the '?' nuts first: knowing their real colors early makes every later move easier to plan.
- Before moving a run of 2 or 3, check the target has room for all of them; any nut left behind costs another move later.
- Undo never refunds a move, so on a 3-star attempt think before you tap; once you are past the target, Restart sets moves back to 0.
- Keep Add Bolt for a true dead end: with the spare bolt on the board, even a perfect clear tops out at 2 stars.
- From level 19 you start with 3 empty bolts instead of 2: give each empty bolt one color and build that color there.
Frequently asked questions
How many nuts move at once in Nut Sort?
The whole visible run of one color on top of the bolt, as long as the target has room. Bolts hold 4 nuts, so moving a run of three onto a bolt with two free places moves two and leaves one behind. A mystery nut never joins a run until its color is revealed.
Which Nut Sort levels have mystery nuts?
Every odd level from level 5 onward: 5, 7, 9 and so on through the campaign. On those boards only the top nut of each bolt shows its color; the others wear a steel finish with a question mark and reveal their color the moment they become the top nut.
What comes after level 60 in Nut Sort?
The game keeps going. Past the 60 pre-checked campaign levels it generates fresh solvable boards, each with a move target from a quick A* search that lands close to the true minimum. Stars, Undo and Add Bolt work exactly as they do in the campaign.
How many colors and bolts does a Nut Sort level use?
Level 1 starts with 3 colors on 5 bolts. A new color joins every 3 levels, and from 9 colors on there are 3 empty bolts instead of 2, so levels 28 to 60 use all 12 colors, from Ruby and Cobalt to Bronze and Onyx, on 15 bolts.
What does the No Moves Left screen mean in Nut Sort?
No bolt can accept any top run any more. The screen offers two ways out: add a spare empty bolt, which costs one star, or undo your last move. If you have already used Add Bolt on this level, Undo or Restart is the way forward.
How many extra moves still earn 2 stars in Nut Sort?
A quarter of the move target, rounded up, and never fewer than 2. On a 36-move target you can finish in up to 45 moves for 2 stars; on a 9-move target, up to 12. Anything beyond that earns 1 star, and Add Bolt takes one more star off the result.
Where do the clicks and chimes in Nut Sort come from?
Every sound is built live by the browser's Web Audio engine: thread clicks, metal clinks, ratchets and bell chimes, with no audio files to download. That is why the game stays light and starts quickly even on a slow connection.
