What is Shelf Atlas?

Shelf Atlas is a sorting puzzle game where you carry items between shelves until every family sits on its own shelf, with one twist: weight. A leaf weighs 1◆ and a globe 5◆, and each shelf carries only up to its limit, so heavy pieces often wait on a small workbench while you make room. The 100 levels grow from 2 shelves and 4 items to 5 shelves and 20, each with an exact par to beat for 3 stars.

How to play Shelf Atlas

Goal: Put every item on its own family's shelf and leave the workbench empty, in par moves or fewer.

  1. Tap an item to pick it up, or press it and drag it toward its new spot.
  2. Drop it on a shelf with a free place and enough weight left, or park it on the workbench, which ignores weight.
  3. While you hold an item, every shelf that can take it glows; the others read Full or Too heavy.
  4. Finish with every family on its shelf and the workbench clear, then compare your moves with par.

Tips & tricks

  1. Compare the gauge under a shelf with the item's badge: a shelf at 6/8◆ takes a lantern (2◆) but not a crystal (3◆).
  2. A shelf's limit is its own family's full weight plus 0 to 2◆, so a guest can only wait there while some of that family is away.
  3. Keep one workbench place free while a compass (4◆) or a globe (5◆) is still out of place: it is the only spot that never says Too heavy.
  4. Undo is free and erases the move from your count, so step back one move instead of restarting when a single move went wrong.
  5. Stuck on a long level? One Hint also tells you how many moves remain on the shortest way, so you know exactly how far off par you are.

Frequently asked questions

How heavy is a globe in Shelf Atlas?

A globe weighs 5◆, the most of any family. Leaves weigh 1◆, lanterns 2◆, crystals 3◆ and compasses 4◆. Globes only appear from level 76 in the Star Dome room, and their weight makes them the hardest pieces to park while you rearrange a shelf.

What does Hint show in Shelf Atlas?

Hint lights up a best next move, one that brings the board a step closer to sorted, and tells you how many moves are left on the shortest way from there. It is free and unlimited, but using it on a level rules out the third star; two stars are still possible.

Do undone moves count in Shelf Atlas?

No. Undo is free and unlimited, and every move you take back leaves your count, so only the moves that stay on the board are compared with par. Restart asks for confirmation first, then puts the shelves back the way they started and resets the count.

What are the four rooms in Shelf Atlas?

Greenhouse Nook holds levels 1 to 25, Lantern Loft 26 to 50, Crystal Cellar 51 to 75 and Star Dome 76 to 100. Par runs from 3 to 12 moves in the first room and reaches 20 in the Star Dome, where all five families, globes included, share the shelves.

How many moves over par still give two stars in Shelf Atlas?

A quarter of par, rounded up, but never fewer than 2. With a par of 8 you can finish in 10 moves for two stars; with a par of 20, in 25 moves. Three stars need par or fewer and no Hint, and any finished level earns at least one star.

Can I drag items in Shelf Atlas?

Yes. Press an item and move a few pixels to carry it, then let go over a shelf or the workbench. Tapping the item and then its target works too, and on a keyboard you choose an item with Tab and Enter, then send it with 1 to 5 for a shelf or 0 or B for the workbench.
