What is Shape Swap?

Shape Swap is a match-3 puzzle game where you trade two neighbouring tiles to line up three or more of the same shape on an 8×8 grid. There is no clock, only 30 moves, so the fun is in planning: every cascade wave multiplies tile points by one more, a straight four leaves a line blaster and a straight five leaves a bomb. Wrong swaps snap back for free, which makes it a calm game for thinkers who like to chase 5,000 points and three stars.

How to play Shape Swap

Goal: Use your 30 moves to rack up as many points as possible, aiming for 1,500, 3,000 and finally 5,000 points to fill all three stars.

  1. Find two side-by-side tiles that would form a row or column of three matching shapes once swapped.
  2. Drag one tile onto its neighbour, or tap both tiles one after the other. The move counter drops by one.
  3. Watch the drop: tiles fall into the gaps, and any new match pays double, then triple, as CHAIN x2! and x3! appear.
  4. Line up four in a straight row to leave a striped line blaster, or five to leave a bomb, then match it to fire it.
  5. When the counter warns 5 MOVES LEFT!, spend the rest on the moves most likely to start long chains.
  6. The round ends after your 30th move settles, and your score decides how many of the three stars you earn.

Tips & tricks

  1. Before each move, scan for five in a line first: building a bomb alone pays 100 bonus points on top of the tiles.
  2. Make your matches near the bottom rows so more tiles fall afterwards and wave 2 or wave 3 becomes far more likely.
  3. Park a line blaster in the same row or column as a bomb, then fire the blaster: it sets the bomb off too.
  4. Swap test freely: a swap that makes no match bounces back and leaves your 30-move budget untouched.
  5. Do not trust the 6-second hint blindly. It shows the first legal swap from the top-left, not the best one.
  6. An L or T made of two threes does not create a special, so only aim for straight lines when you want one.

Frequently asked questions

How many bonus points does building a special give in Shape Swap?

Creating a line blaster adds 40 points and creating a bomb adds 100 points on top of the 10 points per cleared tile. So a straight five that builds a bomb is worth 150 on its own, before the bomb has even gone off. The bonus is not multiplied by the chain wave.

Can a line blaster set off a bomb in Shape Swap?

Yes. Any special tile caught inside another special's blast fires as well. A line blaster that sweeps across a bomb triggers it, and that bomb then clears every tile of its own shape, so lining the two up can empty a large part of the 8×8 board in one move.

Do L-shaped or T-shaped matches make specials in Shape Swap?

No. Shape Swap only checks straight lines, so an L or T counts as two separate runs of three: both clear and score, but no special tile is left behind. You need four shapes in one straight row or column for a line blaster, and five or more for a bomb.

Which tiles does a bomb clear in Shape Swap?

A bomb wipes out every tile on the board that has the same shape as the bomb itself, such as every orange star or every mint hexagon. It goes off when you include it in a new match or when a line blaster's sweep runs through it.

What does the GREAT! message mean in Shape Swap?

GREAT! appears when a single move keeps clearing for three or more waves. The first wave scores 10 per tile, the second 20 and the third 30, and the multiplier keeps climbing with each extra wave, so a GREAT! move is usually the best scoring move of the round.

What happens if the board runs out of swaps in Shape Swap?

The game shows NO MOVES — SHUFFLE! and rearranges the same tiles until at least one legal swap exists and no ready-made match is sitting on the board. The shuffle is free: it does not use one of your 30 moves and your score stays the same.
