Burrow Blast

Tunnel through 24 caves as Moxie: every rock you shoot becomes a block you can build with, and four bosses wait at the bottom of each chapter.
What is Burrow Blast?
Burrow Blast is a side-view digging shooter where one blaster both carves the tunnel and fights back. Moxie, a miner with a helmet lamp, has to reach the lift at the foot of each cave while grubs, spore spitters, ember bats and mites close in. Because the dirt and stone you break refill a pouch of up to 30 blocks, digging is also how you earn the ledges, bridges and lava covers you need further down. Par times of 40 to 100 seconds per cave keep every retry for the third star short.

How to play Burrow Blast
Goal: Reach the lift in all 24 caves, and earn three stars in each by also carrying out its 3 geodes and beating its par time.
- Look around before moving: the timer only starts with your first step or shot, and an arrow at the screen edge points toward the lift.
- Aim with the mouse or right thumb stick and hold to blast. Dirt goes in one shot, stone in three, crystal in six.
- Watch the block counter climb as you dig, then place blocks with E, right-click or Build to climb a wall or span a gap.
- Crack the stone shells off the side of the route to free the 3 geodes; walk near one and Moxie pulls it in.
- Keep your 5 hearts: shoot creatures early and step off a red mark before a boss attack lands on it.
- Step into the open lift to finish. In a boss cave the door to it opens only once the boss is down.

Tips & tricks
- Shooting straight down (hold S or ↓ with J, or aim below Moxie) digs a shaft fastest, but build a block under you before a long drop into the unknown.
- Root and packed blocks need 2 hits, stone needs 3: when you are in a hurry, route through dirt and save the pouch for later.
- Bounce caps launch Moxie at 21 blocks per second, higher than any jump. Use them to reach a geode shell high on the wall.
- Ember bats chase from 11 blocks away at 4.4 blocks per second, so turn and fire the moment one heads your way.
- Never stand next to a red barrel while you shoot it: its 2.4-block blast takes 2 hearts, twice what a bomb does.

How many shots does each block take in Burrow Blast?
Dirt breaks with 1 shot, roots, packed blocks and bounce caps with 2, stone and geode shells with 3, and blue crystal with 6. Bedrock and lava never break. The blaster fires every 0.15 seconds and each bolt flies 13 blocks, so a stone block is gone in under half a second.
What happens when Moxie runs out of hearts in Burrow Blast?
The cave is lost and starts again from the top with all 5 hearts and a fresh pouch of 10 blocks. After each hit Moxie is safe for 1.1 seconds. From the third cave of each chapter, heart pickups restore one heart, but only when one is missing.
How far away can you place a block in Burrow Blast?
Up to 4.5 blocks from Moxie, at the spot you aim at or the last open cell on the way to it. You can place one every 0.2 seconds, and a placed block is packed earth that takes 2 shots to clear again if it ends up in your way.
Which creatures live in the Burrow Blast caves?
Grubs crawl the floor and take 3 hits; flutters take 2 and swoop in from 9 blocks away. Spitters, with 4 hits, lob spores every 2.4 seconds. Ember Vein adds ember bats with 2 hits, and Crystal Deep adds mites with 2 hits that leap at Moxie.
How do you beat the Crystal Warden in Burrow Blast?
Keep moving and keep firing: the Warden takes 170 hits, the most of any boss. It slams down onto a red mark, sends rings of 8 crystal shards outward and calls 2 mites, so leave the mark as soon as it appears and shoot while the Warden recovers from the slam.
Do explosions hurt Moxie in Burrow Blast?
Yes. A bomb that goes off close to Moxie costs 1 heart and a red barrel blast costs 2 within 2.4 blocks. Blocks destroyed by any blast also leave nothing for your pouch, so dig with the blaster when you need building blocks and use bombs to clear hard rock.
What does the Cinder Mole do in Burrow Blast?
The boss of Ember Vein, level 18, needs 140 hits. It throws 3 embers at a time, then dives into the ground and bursts up under a red mark. Step off the mark as soon as it appears, then turn the blaster on the Mole while it is above ground.
