What is Grave Watch?

Grave Watch is a 3D zombie defense game for Halloween in which a purple-and-pink sentinel protects a carved pumpkin worth 10 health from the dead. Zombies rise from 8 graves set in a ring 10 metres out, in 3 or 4 waves a night, and some ignore you to go straight for the lantern. Twenty nights across a pumpkin patch, a chapel yard, a marsh and a moon hill end with a Zombie King on nights 10 and 20.

How to play Grave Watch

Goal: Win all 20 nights with the pumpkin still at 8 health or more, which is worth 3 stars each and 60 in total.

  1. Open the map and pick the next night. A card explains each new idea the first time it appears, from the sword on night 1 to lobbers on night 16.
  2. Move with WASD or the arrow keys, or drag the floating stick on the left side of a touch screen.
  3. Swing with J, a left click or the Attack button. Three swings in a row deal 1, 1 and then 2 damage, and the last one throws zombies back.
  4. Raise the shield with K, a right click or Block when a zombie glows red, and Dash with Space or Shift to slip out of a crowd.
  5. Clear every wave before the pumpkin goes out. Each cleared wave gives it back 1 health, and the result card shows your stars.

Tips & tricks

  1. Snatchers in dark hoods walk past you to reach the pumpkin. They have only 2 health, so turn and cut them first even with a brute nearby.
  2. When a red ring appears on the ground, a lobber's rotten pumpkin will land there. Step out of the 1.3 m circle, then close the 6 m gap to the thrower.
  3. Count your kills: every 9th zombie drops a candy apple that heals 1 heart, but it fades after 10 seconds.
  4. Save a pumpkin bomb for a tight cluster. The blast covers 2.4 m and deals 3 damage, enough to finish a shambler or a runner outright.
  5. Brutes break a raised shield and stun you for 0.75 s. Dash past their swing and hit them from behind instead of blocking.

Frequently asked questions

Who stands guard in Grave Watch on ZotaGame?

On ZotaGame the pumpkin is protected by a purple-and-pink sentinel with a crested visor, a hex shield and a glowing lime blade. Other sites show a different guard, but only the look changes: the hitbox, 0.4 m wide in radius, the speed and the damage are identical everywhere.

How do you see a lobber's attack coming in Grave Watch?

Each rotten pumpkin a lobber throws is marked by a red ring, 1.3 m across, on the spot where it will land. Lobbers throw from about 6 metres away and have 3 health, so step out of the ring and run in to finish them. They first appear on night 16.

What do the hooded zombies do in Grave Watch?

Hooded zombies are snatchers. From night 11 they ignore the sentinel completely and walk straight to the pumpkin. With only 2 health they fall to two quick swings, so chasing them down is usually worth turning your back on slower zombies for a moment.

How do you get hearts back in Grave Watch?

Defeat zombies: after every 9 kills a candy apple drops in the yard. It stays for 10 seconds and heals 1 of your 5 hearts when you walk over it. After any hit you are also safe from damage for 1 second, which gives you time to back off.

Does clearing a wave help the pumpkin in Grave Watch?

Yes. Each cleared wave relights the pumpkin by 1 health, up to its maximum of 10, and the next wave starts 2 seconds later. Since stars depend on the health left at the end, fast clean waves can lift a 2-star night to 3 stars.

How far does the dash go in Grave Watch?

A dash is a 0.24-second burst at 9 m/s, about 2 metres, and it recharges in 0.9 seconds. Nothing can hurt you during it, and zombies in your path are shoved aside and staggered, so it works both as an escape and as a way to break up a crowd.
