What is Tidy Blocks?

Tidy Blocks is an arrow puzzle game where you tidy a messy play mat by tapping toy blocks so they slide out the way their arrows point. Pick the wrong block and it bonks into a neighbour, slides back and still costs a move, and every level gives you only 3 moves more than the fewest possible. Mats grow from 4 blocks to 61, while bolted blocks, baskets, turntables and paired tunnels arrive one chapter at a time.

How to play Tidy Blocks

Goal: Slide every block off the mat, or into a basket, before your moves run out.

  1. Trace a block's arrow all the way to the edge of the mat to check its lane is empty.
  2. Tap that block: it zooms off the mat, and the blocks that were stuck behind it get room.
  3. If something sits in the lane, the block bumps and slides home, and that tap still uses a move.
  4. In later chapters, aim blocks into baskets or tunnels, and tap turntables to swing the arrows around them.
  5. Clear the last block with moves to spare; using the fewest moves and no hints earns 3 stars.

Tips & tricks

  1. On mats with no turntables, the fewest moves equals the number of blocks, so every bump eats one of your 3 spare moves.
  2. Clear the outside ring first: a block on the edge with its arrow pointing out is always free to go.
  3. Don't worry about the order of free blocks: clearing one can never trap another, so tap every free block you see.
  4. From level 37, empty the mat of free blocks before spinning a turntable; each spin costs a move.
  5. If a block's arrow points straight at a basket, it counts as tidied even from the middle of the mat.

Frequently asked questions

How many spare moves do you get in Tidy Blocks?

Three on every level except the first, which gives four. On boards without turntables each block needs exactly one tap, so a level with 30 blocks gives you 33 moves and you can afford three bumps at most. Once every spare move is gone, a Careful message tells you how many moves are left for how many blocks.

Does the order of taps matter in Tidy Blocks?

Only to avoid bumps. Taking a block off the mat never blocks another one, so any block with a clear lane can go at any time. The order matters when a lane is still blocked: tap the blocker first, and the block behind it is free on the next move.

What stops a sliding block in Tidy Blocks?

Another block, a grey bolted block or a turntable in its lane. The block then bumps and slides back. A basket does not stop it but swallows it, which counts as tidied, and a tunnel sends it out of its twin, the matching moon or star, still moving the same way.

Can you tap a turntable with no blocks beside it in Tidy Blocks?

You can, but nothing happens and no move is used: the turntable just shakes and a message says no block is next to it. With blocks on any of its four sides, each tap turns their arrows a quarter turn clockwise for one move, and four taps bring them back.

When do new pieces appear in Tidy Blocks?

Each chapter of 12 levels adds one. Playroom has arrows only, bolted blocks arrive at level 13 in Workshop, baskets at level 25 in Garden, turntables at level 37 in Fairground and tunnels at level 49 in Starlight. A short card explains each piece the first time.

How big is the final level of Tidy Blocks?

Level 60 fills the mat with 61 blocks and needs at least 62 moves, out of 65 available. Level 1, by comparison, has just 4 blocks. The jump is gradual: most chapters start smaller than the one before ends, then build up again.
