Treadshift
Nurse an expedition truck over sagging rope bridges, mud, ice and swinging hammers with only gas and brake. 30 off-road stages and gold times to chase.
What is Treadshift?
Treadshift is a 2.5D off-road physics driving game where you guide a small expedition truck from left to right across 30 stages using nothing but gas and brake. Rope bridges sag under the wheels, planks drop 0.6 s after a tyre lands on them, mud leaves you 42 percent of your grip and ice just 13 percent. Five worlds of six stages lead from Verdant Foothills to Ember Ridge, and each stage carries a gold time between 9 and 30 seconds for you to beat.

How to play Treadshift
Goal: Bring the truck to the beacon at the end of each stage, upright with a wheel on the ground, as quickly as you can.
- Press gas (D, W, → or ↑) when you are ready; the stage clock only starts with your first pedal press.
- Brake (A, S, ← or ↓) to stop before rotors, lock gates and lifts, and keep holding after a stop to reverse.
- In the air, gas tips the nose up and brake tips it down, so use short presses to land on all wheels at once.
- From stage 13, press Space (PULSE) just before touchdown to soften a hard landing.
- Grab the 5 Energy Cells on each stage and spend them in the Garage on Engine, Tyres and Suspension.
Controls
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| DW→↑ | Gas; in the air, nose up |
| AS←↓ | Brake, hold after stopping to reverse; in the air, nose down |
| Space | Landing Pulse (from stage 13) |
| R | Restart the stage |
| EscP | Pause |
| Touch / mouse | GAS bottom right, BRAKE bottom left, PULSE bottom centre, or press either half of the scene |
Tips & tricks
- Never hold gas through a whole bounce-pad flight: it keeps turning the truck nose-up until it comes down on its back.
- Lock gates stay open for only 1.4 to 1.6 s, so wait at the red lamp and roll the moment it turns teal.
- Under a hammer, sit still while its orange lamp blinks and drive through right after it lifts; it drops every 2.6 to 3 s.
- Ice leaves you 13 percent of your grip, so feather the pedals there: a hard stab of brake just slides the truck forward.
- Hung up on a log or step? Reverse a few metres and hit it again with a run-up, because 5 s stuck with a pedal held ends the run.
- Going for gold? Leave Landing Assist off: it fires the Pulse for you but caps every medal at silver.
Frequently asked questions
What are the five worlds in Treadshift?
Verdant Foothills (stages 1–6), Copper Canyon (7–12), Bluewater Marsh (13–18), Frostline Pass (19–24) and Ember Ridge (25–30). Each world teaches its own tricks: tilting beams and rotors in the canyon, mud, rafts and lock gates in the marsh, ice, lifts and the hammer in the pass, and every mechanism chained together on Ember Ridge.
How long can the truck stay tipped over in Treadshift?
About 1.8 seconds. The run fails once the truck stays more than 115 degrees over for that long, so a brief tip can still be saved by rocking it back with gas and brake. Those same pedals rotate the truck in the air, which makes landing level the best way to avoid the problem.
Do you keep any Energy Cells after a failed run in Treadshift?
Yes, up to 10 of the Cells you picked up. A finished stage pays everything you collected plus a medal bonus of 20, 30 or 45 Cells for bronze, silver or gold, and beating an old medal pays only the difference. That makes replays of short stages a steady way to save for upgrades.
How slippery are mud and ice in Treadshift?
Very. Mud zones leave the tyres 42 percent of their normal grip and ice only 13 percent. On mud, carry steady speed in so the truck does not bog down; on ice, press the pedals gently, since a hard brake simply slides you forward. Each Tyres upgrade level adds 6 percent grip.
How fast does the truck go in Treadshift?
Not very, and that is on purpose. The stock truck tops out near 8 m/s on flat ground and reaches 6.5 m/s within 2 seconds, while each Engine upgrade level adds 7 percent torque. Stages are short, with gold times of 9 to 30 seconds, so a clean line beats raw speed.
What does the Landing Assist setting do in Treadshift?
It fires the Landing Pulse for you automatically. Rough landings get easier, but while it is switched on the best medal you can earn is silver. Every stage has been cleared without the Pulse in testing, so you can turn the assist off once your landings feel steady.
