What is Tag Stack?

Tag Stack is a word solitaire puzzle where every card belongs to one topic, such as Weather, Toolbox or Sea animals, and the job is to send each topic away as a full set. A stamped tag card claims an empty cubby, and the cubby then accepts only that topic's words until the whole group is in. The deal starts at 8 cards and 2 topics and ends at up to 39 cards and 6 topics, and a built-in solver has cleared every stage inside its move limit.

How to play Tag Stack

Goal: Ship every topic out of its cubby before you run out of moves.

  1. Find a stamped tag card and tap it to drop it into an empty cubby; that cubby now belongs to its topic.
  2. Tap word cards of the same topic to send them into that cubby, or pile them on a matching word in the columns.
  3. Turn a card from the deck when no column move helps; each turn and each move uses one move.
  4. A cubby holding the tag plus all of its words ships off and frees up for the next tag.

Tips & tricks

  1. Read the ×N count on a tag card before you place it: claim a cubby only when most of those words are already showing.
  2. On stages 15, 20, 25 and 30 there are just 2 cubbies, so close one topic completely before you claim the second.
  3. Pull cards off columns with hidden cards first; a revealed word costs nothing extra to turn over.
  4. Use an empty column as a waiting room for a tag card you can't place yet.
  5. The deck returns in the same order after a full pass, so remember where the words you need sit.

Frequently asked questions

Who is Volt in Tag Stack?

Volt is the raccoon in a lime visor who works the sorting desk next to the cubbies. Volt grins when a tag claims a cubby, cheers when a topic ships, and looks worried if the moves hit zero. The free light-bulb hint is Volt pointing at one good move, or suggesting a turn of the deck.

Can a word card go into a cubby before its tag in Tag Stack?

No. An empty cubby only opens for a stamped tag card, and after that it takes nothing but words of the same topic. Until the tag turns up, words can rest on another word of their topic in the columns or sit in an empty column.

When do hidden cards appear in Tag Stack?

From stage 11, the start of the Sealed Mail chapter. Each column then shows only its top card, and the next one flips face up for free when you clear the card above it. Cards that are still face down never travel with a moved pile.

Does turning the deck use a move in Tag Stack?

Yes, one per card, the same price as a move. Once the deck is empty, one more tap gathers the open pile back in its old order, and that costs a move too. Column moves usually stretch the counter further than digging through the deck.

How many stars can I get on a Tag Stack stage?

Up to 3. Finishing at or under par, the move count the built-in solver needed, earns 3 stars, staying within half of the spare moves earns 2, and any other win earns 1. Stage 1 gives 20 moves with a par of 10, while stage 30 gives 54 with a par of 51.

Could one word belong to two topics in Tag Stack?

No. Each of the 24 topics has 6 words written separately for every language, and any word that might fit two topics was removed. Close topics, such as Fruit and Drinks or Sports and Toys, are never dealt on the same stage.
